July 6, 1938: born in Neuchâtel, Switzerland
1946-1958: growing-up in Paris, France, primary and secondary classic education with Latin and Greek at the Lycée Janson de Sailly, baccalauréat in philosophy. Father Gérard Bauer had been named Head of the Swiss delegation at the Organization for European Economic Cooperation (OEEC) the European organization set-up to implement the Marshall Plan, in Paris.
1958-1962: EPFL, Lausanne, Switzerland, Physics Diploma
1963-1968: California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, California, MS in 1964, PhD in 1968 both in Engineering Science
1968-2001: I helped create, build, manage several companies across the semiconductor industry, including Hughes Research Labs, Intersil, Eurosil, Telmos, Integrated Device Technology, nChip, sVision, Hana Microdisplay Technology.
February 1974 married Irène de Castella, 2 children, Eric and Sophie born in 1975 and 1976.
2002-2024: I worked on the financing of high technology companies with ND Capital a Swiss-US venture capital company. I am currently Venture Partner of ND Capital.
2018: Moved to Maui, Hawaii. Since living in the calm and beautiful settings of Maui, 6 years ago, I started to write on scientific, historical, geopolitics themes of our times.
